Another successful peregrine nesting season!

Peregrine Falcon Nesting Season Update

Climbers : Thanks for all of your cooperation! From Margaret Fowle:

Hi VT Peregriners –

The 2015 peregrine season was one for the record books – 5 new pairs created a new record number of territories in the state, and we surpassed our previous record of 64 fledglings.  Below are the site-by-site results, and attached are a table showing results from the past 10 years, a chart showing the state’s growth curve, and a map of this year’s sites.

We couldn’t have done all of this work without the help of 35 volunteers, several staff from VT Fish & Wildlife, cooperating landowners, CRAG-VT members, and Audubon VT staff.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the project this year – you are critical to its success.

While I suspect the rains in June and early July had a negative effect on productivity, our overall average productivity is well within the range it should be for a stable population, and as evidenced by the 2015 season, we still have an expanding population.

Hope everyone enjoys this last bit of summer.

-Margaret
