Please refer to this list for the current state of access for all Vermont cliffs. It is of the utmost importance that we as a community respect these closures so that we can keep access unimpeded going into the future.
Lower West Bolton – OPEN – No confirmed nesting site has been found and climbers have not reported any additional siting of Peregrines here in the spring weeks.
Upper West Bolton – OPEN – Peregrine Falcons have left Upper West (perhaps visiting from the cliffs north or south) and the state has confirmed this cliff as being OPEN as there is no nesting site on the cliff.
Upper Upper West Bolton – CLOSED – Peregrine Falcons have been nesting at Upper Upper West this season. The cliff will remain closed until they fledge. We are working with the state to update to a partial closure.
Bolton Dome – CLOSED – CRAG-VT has officially purchased the cliff and is working hard to open the area as soon as possible. Finalizing our surveying, insurance details, hardware inspection, and parking construction need to happen so until this notice is removed, please DO NOT CLIMB here. Opening this cliff to the public before finalized road and parking construction would violate a quitclaim deed we have in place with the neighbors and would jeopardize our right of way so please respect this closure. We’ve already started planning for the road and parking lot and are getting an estimate on the work soon. We’ve waited 27 years, we can wait 6 more months!
Lone Rock Point – OPEN – All climbers must get a Rock Point Property Pass via the process described here: rockpointvt.org/rock-point-… . We highly suggest making a donation to the Rock Point Center as part of the process. It will help to mitigate fees incurred by CRAG-VT to ensure access and allow the Rock Point Center to continue to offer their unique property to the general public. Every time that climbers access Lone Rock Point, they must sign in at the kiosk located at the Diocesan offices parking lot and utilize the marked trail to reach the cliff. Please sign out when leaving. The number of climbers is limited to 8 at any given time. Lone Rock Point is open during daylight hours for climbing.
Bolton Quarry – OPEN – Please drive under 10 mph once you are on green mountain drive as the locals are very sensitive to speeding and noise. Speeding will threaten access to this area.
